Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), the leading Islamic institution in Qatar and owner of the largest Islamic banking network in the world, has opened its 27th branch on Suhaim bin Hamad Street. This newest addition to QIB’s expanding network is part of the bank’s strategy to enhance its presence at strategic locations throughout Doha. The opening of this location is part of a plan striving to reach 35 branches by 2012. The leading financial institution is currently developing plans to inaugurate another branch in Al Nassirya area.  QIB’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Meshari commented on the opening, “The launch of the Suhaim bin Hamad location represents an important addition to our evolving financial network and is an implementation of QIB’s expansion plan that has been shaped by our Board of Directors. This plan is to create a comprehensive network of QIB institution in strategic locations across the country. Our expansion is a direct reflection of the economic boom taking place in Qatar and the increasing demand for Islamic banking services”. “Qatar has entered a new era by winning the 2022 World Cup bid and the Qatari economy is expected to continue to develop and grow providing an appropriate environment for the banking sector. Therefore we should pursue this development by expanding and offering more services that meet our clients’ requirements,” added Meshari. Assistant General Manager retail banking, Amer al Jabri said, “The opening of this latest branch aims to provide comprehensive services to all economic sectors and individuals in the region of Suhaim bin Hamad Street. The area has become an active economic hub that features major services like shopping malls, government offices, and hospitals. Ultimately, our institution will continue to provide specialized services throughout Qatar.” “The branch will enhance QIB’s pioneering role to provide Islamic financial services to customers for different sectors, especially clients subscribing to QIB and Al Jazeera Financing which is 30% owned by QIB,” added Al Jabri. It is worth mentioning that QIB has undergone extensive measures to modernize and develop its branch network over the last few years, and it now stands as one of the leading banking networks in Qatar supported by an ATM network of 100 machines that provide services around the clock. The branch opening was attended by QIB’s senior management officials, Al Jazeera Financing, and a number of loyal customers.
